Corrosion resistant mold work
Corrosion resistant mold work
The type of plastic mold used in PVC injection molding is a mold used to injection mold PVC resin, which is a plastic that is strong, durable, and highly corrosive because PVC produces hydrochloric acid when PVC encounters moisture and high temperatures. Plastic pieces that go through this process and that we often see are PVC pipes or water pipes that we use in our daily lives. Different types of wires
PVC plastic molds must have the following properties:
• Strong, resistant to wear and abrasion
• Good toughness, impact and compression strength
• Resistant to heat and temperature changes
• And importantly, it must resist rust or acid corrosion caused by resins.
The materials used to make PVC plastic molds include steel used to make tools, including carbon steel, steel used to make molds, high-speed steel, and other materials. Nowadays, ceramics are also used as materials to make molds.
Leong Jin recommends DIN1.2083ESR, SUS440C and DIN1.2316 grades, all of which are stainless steels or close to stainless steels. A hard chrome finish can help prevent acid corrosion. However, it is a waste of time to make a mold.
