Rolled Ring Forging

Rolled Ring Forging

Rolled Ring Forging is a metal forming process that uses compression from a roller or rolling ball to reduce the thickness of the ring wall, which increases the diameter of the ring. Ring remodeling begins with circular pre-form of the metal with a process called upsetting and drilling a hole in the center called piercing (using a Open Die Forging) to create a ring that looks like a donut. The donut rings are then heated above the crystallization temperature and placed on the rolled ring. The rolling machine rotates continuously with a compression rolling ball to reduce the wall thickness, thereby increasing the diameter (ID and OD) of the resulting ring.

Rolled Rings are suitable for the type of equipment that requires a strong ring. It has a high toughness and durability, and has complex shapes such as bearings. Joints, Sprockets & Flanges

Rolled Ring can be performed on metals such as steel, aluminum, and titanium.
