Engineering steel

Engineering steel is steel with mechanical and chemical properties suitable for engineering applications. Carbon and other elements such as chromium, nickel, manganese, and molybdenum, milk, in different ratios, which will affect the hardness, toughness, Durability and flexibility of steel. It can also be hardened, good polishing, and welding.

Engineering steel is very beneficial to the Thai economy because it is a material that has a variety of applications and is cost-effective in terms of price and quality. It can be used in structural, industrial and manufacturing products such as automobiles, electrical appliances, plastics, pharmaceuticals, food, and many others, which are the main industries that affect the growth of the Thai economy and competition in the global market. In addition, engineered steel can also be exported to other countries, increasing the income and stability of the Thai economy.

The characteristics of engineering steel depend on the type and mixture of steel. There are several types, each with different hardness and properties, such as:

  • Carbon steel is steel with a carbon content of no more than 1.5% and has hardness and toughness depending on the amount of carbon. It is cheap and can be hardened well. It is used for structural, mechanical and wrought iron applications.
  • Alloy steel is steel that contains a mixture of other elements such as chromium, nickel, manganese, and molybdenum in various ratios, making it highly hard and durable. They are used for applications that require strength, wear resistance, and corrosion, such as engine work, shaft work, gear work, and tooling steel.
  • Stainless Steel is steel that contains chromium, nickel, and others to make it resistant to corrosion and rust, strength, and ductility. Good polishing and welding. It is used for jobs that require high cleanliness, such as food work, pharmaceutical work. Medical equipment and jewelry

There are many types of steel that are sold in Thailand, but most of them are carbon steel and alloy steel because of their variety of applications and cost-effective prices. Examples of steel that are commonly used in Thailand are:

  • SS400 Steel
  • S50C Steel
  • SCM440 Steel
